A note from Jay Plotkin, Executive Director
Dear Ekar Farm Community,
We are excited to announce that Ekar Farm will be relocating to a new site at Shalom Park in Aurora this winter. Since 2011, the Denver Academy of Torah (DAT) campus has been a wonderful home for us, and we are deeply grateful for nearly 15 years of support and partnership. The DAT community has played an integral role in our journey, helping us to grow and thrive, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to them.
Our new site at Shalom Park will encompass 2.86 acres, representing a 43% increase in land. This expansion will provide us with more opportunities to grow, innovate, and serve a new community. The move to Shalom Park marks an exciting new chapter for Ekar Farm, allowing us to enhance our programs and impact even further. With the additional space, we plan to introduce new initiatives, expand our educational programs, and increase our food production to support more families and individuals in need.
To support this significant transition, we launched a Capital Campaign on August 1st, with a goal of raising $320,000 in Phase 1. These funds will be crucial for ensuring a smooth move and setting up our new site to continue our mission driven work in sustainable agriculture, hunger relief, education, and community engagement. The first phase of our campaign will focus on essential infrastructure, such as irrigation systems, soil remediating, land grading, shed, a greenhouse, and community spaces, which are vital for our farm's operations and outreach activities.
We invite you to join us in this exciting journey by contributing to our Capital Campaign. Your support will help us build a brighter future for Ekar Farm and the communities we serve. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact and bring us closer to our goal. In addition to financial contributions, we welcome volunteer support and community involvement to help us achieve our vision for the new site. Please reach out to Jason@ekarfarm.org with any questions or with donation inquiries.
As we prepare for this transition, we remain committed to our core values of sustainability, education, and community. We are excited about the potential for new partnerships and collaborations at Shalom Park and look forward to the positive impact we will continue to make together.
Thank you for your continued dedication and support. Together, we are growing a healthier, more connected community.
Warm regards,
Jason Plotkin
