Volunteer opportunities are on pause for the winter!

We hope to see you on the farm in Spring 2025!

If you will be volunteering with us on the farm, please complete our volunteer waiver and sign-up form prior to arrival to the farm!

On-Farm Volunteer Opportunities

Days in the Dirt (Drop-In Volunteer Days)

Every Sunday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, May 4th - October 26th.
NEW IN 2025! - Please complete our volunteer sign-up form prior to arriving on the farm! In an effort to better track our community engagement, we ask that volunteers fill out our sign up sheet prior to each time they volunteer on the farm.

Check out our Events Calendar to confirm we will be on the farm! Volunteer days are weather dependent so please check our website the morning before you plan to volunteer to confirm we will be there.

*Volunteers must be 8 or older and if under 18, a parent or guardian must be present OR must complete online waiver prior to arrival on the farm. Children under 8 years old are always welcome on the farm, though we may not have volunteer tasks available to them.

Weekday Volunteer Opportunities

  • Individuals Seeking Weekday Volunteer Opportunities

    • For community members that want to be a part of the Ekar team, we welcome you to join us for a regularly scheduled volunteer shift. We ask that these individuals commit to at least one 3-hour shift per week from May through October. Regular volunteers will be provided with fresh produce from the farm, as available depending on the week’s harvest.

    • We are not currently able to accommodate one-off volunteer opportunities on weekdays. We are a small team and are unable to meet the needs of our distribution partners while also training and overseeing volunteers. We have thus devoted Sundays to drop-in volunteers.

    • If you are interested in setting up a weekday volunteer schedule, please email the farm manager, Kevin.

  • Groups Seeking Weekday Volunteer Opportunities

    • We do welcome larger groups (5-20 individuals) to schedule weekday volunteer opportunities. Groups will be provided with a tour of the farm, discussion of growing practices and hands-on activities. Past groups to the farm include corporate outings, religious groups, youth groups, schools and more!

    • While working with larger groups, we often commit our staff to overseeing the work and informing the groups about the work Ekar is doing. As such, we ask that groups coming to the farm commit themselves to our mission and contribute meaningfully to our work. We have a suggested donation of $5 per volunteer for larger groups to help cover the costs of staff oversight.

    • If your group is interested in visiting Ekar Farm and learning about the work we do to strengthen the local food system, please email the farm manager, Kevin. Please include details about your group (number of people, average age, farming/gardening experience) and a list of potential dates.

Before Coming Out To The Farm…

  1. Complete the volunteer waiver and sign up form. Each individual volunteering is required to complete the waiver. If under 18, we ask that a parent/guardian be present on the farm OR sign the waiver prior to arrival.

  2. Be ready for the day’s weather - bring a water bottle, gloves, hat, sunscreen, sturdy shoes (no flip-flops), snacks, and anything else you might need. There is no indoor space at Ekar, so please come prepared.

  3. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and sign up for our email list to get volunteer updates throughout the year.
